The Human Edge — and the question it leaves open

The fact that Nordic Business Forum 2026 has chosen "The Human Edge" as its theme is itself a signal. After years of conversation about AI, automation, and technological disruption, the leadership community is circling back to the question it has always had to answer: what is it that humans do that machines cannot — and how do you build organisations that are genuinely structured around that? That is a good question. But it is not yet the complete question.
The fuller question is: what conditions allow the human edge to actually function? You can put some of the sharpest thinkers in the world — Angela Duckworth on environments that produce excellence, Alison Wood Brooks on conversation as the operating system of collaboration, Kjell Nordström on the kind of human insight that goes beyond what AI can process — in a room with 8,500 senior decision-makers. The insight lands. The inspiration is real. And then those leaders return to their organisations, and the underlying architecture is the same as it was before. The human edge stays potential. It does not become motion. That is the gap mitomo.io exists to address.
What NBF itself demonstrates
There is something worth pausing on in NBF's own story. Two Finnish founders started with a small gathering in the middle of a forest, driven by a conviction that world-class leadership thinking should be accessible to European leaders. They invited Al Gore before anyone knew what the forum would become. From that beginning — a clear mission, the courage to act on it, the willingness to persist through uncertainty — they built something that now draws 8,500 participants, 69% of them senior decision-makers, with more than 25,000 joining online.
That is not just a conference about leadership. It is a demonstration of it. Mission becoming motion, momentum turning into movement. The 4M chain, made visible.
Stefan at NBF 2026
